2010 Bouquet Red Dessert Wine
The North Fork of Long Island, New York
Concentrated and well-balanced, Bouquet seduces with every sip. This Vin Doux Naturel is a blend of Syrah (90%) and Pinot Noir (10%). Closure: cork.
The color of dark ruby gemstones, Bouquet Red Dessert Wine offers warm aromas of blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, chocolate and pepper. Light-bodied for a dessert wine, with a long length of finish.
L.I. vines benefitted from early spring rain during the growing season. A very warm and exceptionally dry summer sped up the ripening of grapes. Light rain during the early fall contributed to the quality of the vintage. Fall weather was perfect for haresting without having to rush.
This Vin Doux Naturel is made by adding grape spirit to the must of ripe fermenting grapes, as opposed to late harvest grapes. By arresting fermentation mid-way, part of the grapes’ sugar remains and retains sweetness in the wine. The alcohol in a fortified wine makes its body lighter and more fluid, and in this wine, is very well balanced by its fruit, sugar and acidity. Alc.: 17% pH: 3.39 TA: 6.31 RS: 50 g/L.
Serve with dark chocolate or desserts with chocolate sauces, such as Poire Belle Hélène or profiteroles. The strong stimuli of both the chocolate and red dessert wine enhance each other. An exquisite ending to a beautiful evening!
